The legal status and contact details of the operator of adatka.hu, the data sources and the licences.
1. The operator

| Operator | adatka.hu is currently operated by a private individual (a natural person), not as a sole trader (egyéni vállalkozó) and not through a company. We provide the operator's name and place of residence to anyone who wishes to enforce a legal claim against the operator, and upon an official request from a court, a notary, an authority or a conciliation board (békéltető testület); the content of the request and the deadline are described in section 9 of the Terms of service (in Hungarian). A paid service will only start once the operator has registered as a sole trader, or once the service is provided by a registered company; by then we will publish on this page the name, registered office, registration number or company registration number, and tax number of the sole trader or of the company. |

2. adatka is not an authority
adatka has no connection with Lechner Tudásközpont (Lechner Knowledge Centre), the KSH (Hungarian Central Statistical Office), Magyar Posta, the NAV (National Tax and Customs Administration) or any other state body, and it is not an official register. The site is a derived service built from publicly released or openly licensed data sources.
An address obtained here is not an official certificate. The matches are for information only: before an official, legal or other critical decision, check the data in the competent register.
3. Data sources and licences
Indicating the sources is not a courtesy but a condition of the licences.

On 2 October 2026 the Election Information Service (Választási Információs Szolgálat) of the National Election Office confirmed in writing that the Körzetállomány may be used, on the condition that the source is always indicated alongside the content taken over.
There is no exclusivity and no official relationship between the Magyar Posta
data and adatka. The response's list of sources (sources) lists
the sources used for the response as a whole; it does not break them down by
field.
The OpenStreetMap database licence carries over: anyone who builds a database derived from adatka's house-level responses and publishes it is obliged to publish it under the same terms. This does not depend on a decision by adatka; it is required by the source's licence.
4. The site's own content
The site's text, layout, figures, the source code and the name “adatka” are the operator's own intellectual creation. This does not apply to the openly licensed source data above: that data may be used under its own licences.
5. Liability
adatka works from the open data available, and this data is incomplete. According to a measurement of 20 September 2026, in about 40% of Hungary's settlements the open data contains five or fewer house-level points; for villages this proportion is 46%. The operator accepts no liability if an address is missing or out of date, and accepts no liability for damage arising from the use of the site.

6. Reporting errors
Please send incorrect or missing addresses, incorrect attributions and any legal comments here: info@adatka.hu. It is also worth correcting address errors at the source — OpenStreetMap can be edited by anyone, and a correction reaches this site with the next update of the OpenStreetMap extract. The current extract is from 16 August 2026; we have not yet set the update schedule.
